A monolithic travertine coffee table standing alone in an empty ivory room

IThe Origin

Every table in Palazzo is monolithic. There are no glued seams, no veneered edges and no hollow cores — which is why the smallest of them weighs sixty-one kilograms.

Blocks are chosen at the quarry, dry-laid, photographed and only then committed to. Each table is therefore unrepeatable.

The edge radius is finished by hand with three grades of abrasive. A machined edge reads as cold; a hand-worked one does not.

IIInspiration

The worn thresholds of Venetian doorways, where four centuries of feet have done what no designer could draw.

IIICraft

Cut in Carrara, finished in Pietrasanta. Each piece carries a stamped bronze disc on its underside recording the quarry, the block number and the year.

Stone should be allowed to be heavy. The moment you try to make it look light, you have lost the argument.
